D-069: Traveler's Wagon

they never stay in one place for long. they prefer to be on the move, and their den simply goes along with them: the cheery yellow wagon provides space for Reyn to store her wares and supplies. it rarely shelters her from the weather--she prefers her fox skin for that, and the warmth of Barra's fur. it was a small little cart, bruised and broken by its misadventures, but it is as much a home as Reyn ever had. she abandons the cart for months at a time and rebuilds it over and over again. sometimes the wood is more a weathered grey than yellow. Barra is the one who likes the color and insists it be painted over with a sheen of something like respectability.

they keep several large canvas tarps tied to the tops and sides, stored haphazardly in the wagon. they can use them to build shelters for the animals they meet in the woods, or for individuals they rescue on their daring raids. it isn't comfortable accommodations, partially by design. it is utilitarian, practical. it is not meant for staying long.

Barra is the one who often encourages Reyn to sleep inside. he brings back objects and herbs to decorate; he provides wood in the winter. Barra is the one who pulls the cart from place to place. Barra is the one who sees it as a home, a burrow, a den. getting his Rider to go to ground is a larger challenge than Barra would like to admit, but he takes it with his characteristic dedication.

they're most fond of the northern isles of Eredia, and small far-flung rocky outcroppings that seem to rise and vanish with the tides. they also tend to find high spaces on the downs from which they can watch the moors and the winds that blow across the wilds.
