D-076: Cozy Forja

Theme: Cozy Forja

When the egg had hatched, Fidelia was out in the front, working on a rather tricky piece of metal. It was still burning when the feeling had bloomed inside her chest and with shaky hands, she placed down the metal. The fire in the firepit was still blooming, her yet to have created a proper forge, and with a quick check that it wouldn't burn down the entire house, she followed the tugging urge. She entered into the hallway, the door leading to her workroom closing shut. She shuffled about in the hallway, roughly taking off her work gloves and shoving them into the pocket of her apron. She carefully shifted some tools back under benches, grumbling as she had yet to actually clean up her hallway. Still covered in tools and she doubted that a newborn hatchling would be safe in such a chaotic environment. Already, without even seeing the little jodidísimo, she was experiencing the first joys of parenthood.

Twisting a quick turn, ignoring a closet that was adjoined to a bathroom, she followed the tight hallway into her bedroom. The soft chirps could be heard through the wooden door, it cracked open a bit. The feeling in her chest bloomed a bit, asking where was she. Oh, well, she was here now, and she shuffled around a bit. Was this how her padre had felt before he saw her or one of her siblings for the first time?

'Ay, Dioses Mio, you're not helping anyone by standing around.'

That was correct and she shook her head, before opening up the door. The bedroom was cleaner than the hallway, but the desk next to her bed was covered in books and pencils, with the bed messily made. She didn't have her madre breathing down her neck, after all, to worry about such things, but, next to the bed, was the little cradle she had made for the egg. Or, when it was an egg.

'Not an it anymore.'

Her eyes landed onto the rather bright-colored dragon, who was wearing an eggshell. They were cocking their head around, curiously taking in everything. The first blooms of aging had already taken ahold of the bebé, the showing of tentacles slowly rising as if alerted by something, and shuffling their overgrown wings. She couldn't help but watch the little hatchling, with their large eyes and chirping noises. They had yet to actually look over at her, instead, they were cocking their head from one side to the other towards her messy desk. Slowly, she stepped into the room, careful to not accidentally trip over one of her other pairs of work boots, and sat on the end of her bed.

Slowly, she made a clicking sound with her tongue and it was a shock that the eggshell didn't get thrown off by how fast they turned their head. They made a squawking noise, fluttering their wings and they were trying to crawl out their egg now. They must feel the bond as well, as they were making squawking noises that sounded like pure excitement. Or maybe she was imagining it, she didn't know and still didn't, but she watched curiously as they scrambled out of their little egg. Their tail was still covered in the downy fluff, and they flapped their wings even more.

"Hello."

Fidelia stiffened as she felt, or heard, she didn't know what to call it really, but she knew she had said it. Oh, Gods, she was going crazy, wasn't she? Saying words to another in their head must be what a crazy person thinks, but the dragon was going crazy with those words. Their chirpings were loud and clear and she was surprised the village hadn't been awakened by the loud, little thing. And they immediately were stopped when they tried to crawl out of the metal cradle and were immediately pushed back into the blankets. They squirmed and squawked, their wings not yet strong enough to actually fly them out of the cradle. She watched, bemused, as they continued doing the actions. Climbing up the sloping hill, only to be pushed back down into the downy blankets.

"Ay Dioses Mio," She sighed, getting up from her seating on the bed. She approached the flapping hatchling, who stopped their failed climbing to look up at her. Their eyes were wide and clear, and they cocked their head curiously to one side as she finally stood in front of it. She huffed at seeing the eggshell hat and lightly pushed it off, revealing two more tentacles and ears. "You're quite a despistado one, aren't you?"

They simply chirped and flew their wings up, revealing paler shades of the lilac color on them. They looked expectantly at her and softly, she picked them up, scooping them up. They immediately curled up in the cradle her arms had made for her and a flare of protection shot through her. She remembered holding her hermana menor like this when she was born, soft and innocent. Her chest rumbled out a soft purr, which the hatchling seemed to be happy with, yawning and looking at her with bright, pale green eyes.

"Welcome to the world, mijo," She whispered softly to them, and they twisted their head around to look at the place. "Hogar dulce hogar." She paused and looked at them. "I should show you around, shouldn't I?"

They simply chirped softly, and shuffled about in her hold, until their chin was perched upon one of her biceps. She flicked her tail, looking at the little hatchling carefully. She would have to name them, right? Or did they name themselves? Oh, this was going to be a confusing time for them, and she sighed as the hatchling tried to make words. Or, tried speaking in her tongue, but simply was speaking in theirs.

"So, this is my bedroom," She said, shifting a bit as she let them eye the whole room.

She pointed at where a side closet was at, alongside all the desks and cabinets she had, pushed neatly against the walls. She explained each one to the curious thing, as well as what they were called in her native language, and proudly adding she had built each one, alongside the cradle she had made for him. As she finished showing her bedroom, she made her way out into the hallway and stopped at the closet.

"So, this is the main closet. You'll find tools and books in here," She told the creature, before opening it up. It was like a mini hallway really, with the sides aligned with all the important stuff you would need. She walked through, and made a slight curve, before pointing at the door at the end. "And this is our one and only bathroom."

She quickly opened it, feeling the dragon lightly crawl a bit to look more closely around. It was the cleanest spot in the house, surprisingly, everything in the place they needed to be. The toilet and sink were against one side, with a mirror over the sink. It contained simple cough medicine and dental hygiene necessities. There was a shower against the back of the bathroom, and opening it up, it revealed that baths could also be done in it. It was long and was large enough for her to be able to fully lay in it while submerged, though she did have to curl her tail up against her to do so. As well, she reached up and showed the chirping hatchling that the showerhead could be attached and detached from the wall, before placing it back where it belonged. The shelves were quite empty, only having the bare essentials to be clean. She didn't really need that much soap as back home, it was just her really, after all.

After letting them get an eyeful, she exited the bathroom, closing it behind her, before exiting the closet. She showed them the rest of the hallway, with a few little holes for chests to be held in. She stopped when they reached the door that led out back, but made a turn, heading towards the kitchen. It was slightly messy, but all the dishes were clean and stacked where they needed to be. She just simply had to organize it a bit more. In the center of the kitchen was a simple wooden table, with two chairs on opposite ends. She lightly placed the dragon now, letting them step around and sniff in the air, looking around. The kitchen just looked like an ordinary kitchen really, with an oven and a stove, plus a sink and a fridge/freezer combo. She sat down on one of the chairs, explaining where things were put and such.

"And that's the end of the house tour," She finally said, raising her hand and letting the dragon rub their chin against it. "Pretty nice I would say. Hogar, dulce hogar."
