D-114: Pocket Home
Flopping himself down on the ground, Rayden let the duffle bag roll to the side as he huffed. The hike into the forest once they got off the cycle had been strenuous to the city slicker, but not impossible. Concrete and hard asphalt roads were a lot easier to run on. More than one tree branch had attempted to make him kiss the ground as well.
They were finally there though, that perfect little spot by the creek with enough protection within the trees that most of the wild animals around them shouldn't give them more than a passing glance. While Rayden wasn't sure if it'd keep the sun out in the early morning hours, it was a blissful shady area for now. Rolling over onto his side, the blue eyed blond sat up on one arm, taking a french girl pose, ready for painting, to eye the fiery redhead. They weren't his first choice of companion for the fun summer trip, but it was hard not sharing those elated feelings to be in the great outdoors for a change. Especially since they were bonded but... he'd probably be happy anyway as he was slowly coming to terms with the fact that he had to get along with his tutor.
"Alright, so you said something about having the tents and stuff all hidden away. Now would be a great time to bring them out Houdini."
“Adam! There are rabbits here, Adam!” The booming voice called from a tree, full of happiness as the fire dragon could be seen weaving back and forth between the tree lines while the pair of riders walked along.
“Yes Rai, wild rabbits. You can probably cook them and we can have rabbit one of these nights if you like.” He offered, getting a small gasp as he zoomed off to chase one of the furry friends that also served as food.
Shaking his head, Adam left him to it as they came close to where they’d be resting for the days. Having much less to carry, only helping the other male who didn’t have the wonders of compact carrying, as they reached that perfect spotted renting out for their nice trip away from the joys of the city Adam set the bags down and stretched out a little. He loved the noises of nature, how it would sit to anyone passing even if they didn’t want their mating calls that sounded like sweet melodies, he always adored it even if he couldn’t recall the last time he actually slept while camping.
“Oh but Rayden, I have to take in this beautiful sight.” Leaning on a tree to admire that pose being offered to him, he was still flirting a bit with his bond partner even if he was trying to ‘behave’ as Rayden would call it. “But if you insist, I do hate to leave my partners waiting and begging.”
Taking the small bag from his waist, he looked it over for a moment before he put his finger on a triangular shaped latch that looked to be a buckle. Aiming it away from where Rayden was laying and to a nice open spot cleaned out by whoever or whatever stayed last, as he pressed it a large tent popped out and stuck directly to the ground. It was roomy, inside already a set of blankets laid out and a few pillows along with a small lantern atop it.
Aiming the bag at an area a little to the left of the tent, pressing it again spit out a cooler, along with a small portable stove that just needed a light to set the inside of it ablaze. Looking inside the bag, Adam shook it a little more before a lighter just toppled out, leaving him to reattach the bag to his waist and he offered his hand for Rayden to get up and join him in the tent.
“Alrighty, that should be it.”
“What about flakes of frost?” Rai asked as he zoomed back over, landing on Adam’s shoulder with a rabbit limp and clutched in his claws, returning now that all the work was done and it was play time.
“Later, why don’t you go find us some more rabbits? There are four of us and all...” Sighing, Rai didn't say anything but zoomed off again, seen zooming off back into the trees as Adam watched him.
Squinting at that wording, Rayden definitely didn't remember begging Adam to hurry it along, even if he was waiting. It was fiiiine though, everything was still just daaandy. Their days of fun had just started after all, he was going to enjoy them even if he had to put up with the flirty ginger. It was safe to say that he could tell the other was holding back however. As crazy as that would have sounded to himself a few weeks ago. Heck, he wasn't even running from Adam any more when they met up outside of school on accident.
Merely sighing at them, he made an impatient 'go on' motion as Adam took that small bag from his waist. Raising an eyebrow, he was left in a brief moment of suspense until that button was pressed and out popped an entire fucking campsite. Staring at the sight for a while, he put his hand in Adam's without much thought. Not about to just let it go he supposed, he let them help him up and continued his stare at what was apparently a pocket sized camp. Man. Rich kids.
Shaking his head, Rayden grabbed his bag, figuring he'd unpack his own blanket and pillow for a little extra fluff to lay on. "You don't have to worry about Darkness, sometimes he prefers not to eat." The dragon hiding out in his rider's shadow like usual, wobbled slightly. He only ate because it tasted nicer munching with everyone else, and Rayden being hungry made him feel hungry. "I wanna go explore the other side of the river as far as possible before it gets dark."
“He looks like he likes to eat though, and it keeps Rai busy just a little longer.” Adam told Rayden as he unzipped the tent, glad it had two different flaps that he always remembered to do but he wished it was easier for the future morning him who didn’t always have the brain power needed to not struggle with the zippers.
“I know where you sleep!” The trees called back, but Adam minded his cirey dragon not as he made sure all was set up well before coming back out to zip up the main flap for now.
“Sure, we can find a nice bathing spot for tomorrow or the day after. Or maybe a fishing spot, it’s pretty satisfying to catch your own food and cook it up for dinner.” Brushing himself off, Adam just wanted a small excuse to maybe push Rayden into the water and cuddle up to him when he was cold after. Was that a bit of a dick move? Yes, but he was a dick. Smiling, he was just glad he got to finally go out in a sweet way with Rayden, plans running through his head as they spoke. But for now, those plans were put on hold as he finished setting up the site, then he could have some fun.
