Before Akeem was born, his future rider, Fidelia, had befriended a wise Shear. When he died, Akeem's mother brought him to the sea for a peaceful funeral. This Shear was named Akeem, and Fidelia had made a promise that her first dragon would be named after him. Akeem's mother had mated with a male dragon and on the shore, underneath the docks of Fidelia's village, Akeem was hatched, where Fidelia found him.

Akeem is dedicated to Fidelia, he would die for her and protects her with his life. Despite his love for his rider, he doesn't always listen to her, often following his own impulsive needs or feelings before her more cautious ones. It doesn't help that he has a strong will and takes her scolding easily, but no matter how much she scolds him or doesn't listen to her commands, he depends on her, wanting to stick around her. It helps he's very charismatic and easily gets away with some of his disobedience. These actions, though, often happen on one of their adventures, something he loves doing with her, and typically goes to meet new people or dragons, expressing more with emotion than others.
