Jack doesn't appear to be much on the surface. They are vain, self-centered, and hedonistic, often chasing whatever new thing has their attention while allowing long-time pursuits to fall to the wayside. Their desire to chase after anything waxes and wanes with their mood, and they fall into the rut of habit and addiction easily when encountering a downswing. It's very easy to write them off, and Jack doesn't particularly care enough to challenge this misconception that they are simply seeking decadence and attention.

However, beneath the surface rages a fire whose flames can never be truly smothered. Jack is intelligent and driven, cracked by grief and their desire for revenge on someone who is lost to them due to being plucked from the Chronoscape. Jack is particularly adept at learning languages and diving beneath the surface of research in pursuit of a greater meaning and purpose no matter the cost. Sanity was something Jack gave up holding onto a long time ago; it is a necessary sacrifice to obtaining what they want. As such, they rarely make the 'wise' decision or do what is expected of them. In fact, Jack has a fondness for taking something they have been told to do and doing the exact opposite unless it directly benefits them to obey.

To catch Jack in a weak moment is to find a jaded romantic, a scholar without purpose, and someone who is all-too aware of the things they are running from who sees little to no reason to ever stop running and face the world head-on. Then the mask slips on, and they again seem to be the person they project at the world to avoid dealing with their true depths of their turbulent feelings.
