R-100: Tea Cake
Traits:
- Hard-working
- Friendly
- Storyteller
At first glance, Tea Cake can appear intimidating. His large size, facial scars, and powerful body tend to drive off the faint at heart before they get a chance to know him. Tea Cake is, in truth, a sweetheart who chose his adult name in part to help ease the worries of others. He doesn't like being viewed as scary or unfriendly. He longs to make the people around him comfortable and feel at home in his presence.
What Tea Cake lacks in general intelligence and impulse control, he makes up for with a genuinely good heart. Though he is trained in multiple methods of combat, he will always first attempt to reason or talk to someone causing trouble whether that's in his best interest or not. When he is forced to defend himself or others, his broad smile disappears, and a grim darkness overcomes his stern face. Such moods are rare and hard to overcome, and it usually requires an outside force to remind him that he is good and worthy.
Tea Cake loves to hear and tell stories, often exchanged over food he has prepared. He picks up songs quickly, learning the words and notes as if music is a second language to him. He also loves to dance, and will often drag his friends into the limelight if they don't put their foot down and tell him 'no'.
Due to a genetic defect, Tea Cake cannot access his peoples' magic. When his home continent suffered a series of natural disasters that were caused by the shifting of magical energy, Tea Cake was one of the precious few unaffected, and he spent the following years leading the rebuilding efforts in his home village. Despite being a force for good, his lack of magical ability often makes him feel like a burden, bringing to the surface a rare self-consciousness that can lead to him being uncharacteristically shy.
