Profile R-260: Ferdinand J Blackwell

Ferdinand, normally going by 'Jesse' to most, and 'Blackwell' to his superiors, is an Engineer and Architect that was formally 'willfully conscripted' into the Abernese Milita on account of his father, in the past, being a highly ranked officer. Their family were never noble or prized very highly, but because of his father's past service, and subsequent death, Ferdi was dragged from his small studio and put to work on building and maintaining the vehicles, gadgets and equipment on a remote sub base working on finding old magical relics to research their meaning and possibly harness their magic.

He was put under an uncharacteristically very, very cruel captain who abused his power and authority to the extent that ended up brain washing him into thinking the Milita have eyes and ears everywhere, and if he so much as whispered his unhappiness about his life or his job, he'd be hurt again. He lost his arm for breaking a machine accidentally. What would he lose next time? Because of the upheaval of his life, and the situation he is now found in, Ferdi has turned to alcohol to try and stem his dark, dark thoughts and the feelings of being trapped and suffocated.

He's anxious, depressed and extremely overwhelmed by it all, but he can't do anything about it. He also hates his job, especially, due to his upbringing - his mother was very superstitious, and so working for a company that upheaves and destroys ancient relics and gravesites, it kills him inside, his anxiety just making him picture all the terrible luck or curses that might haunt him as a result.

Ferdi has a very active imagination, and while that can lend him a little bit of escape from his situation, as well as creative freedom with the things he fixes and builds and designs, it also makes things that haunt him a little more real. He's jumpy as a result. And because of his disability, and his small, meek stature, he's grown to be very frail mentally and physically. Despite it all, he hopes one day, he'll be better.

Things will be better.

And in his alone time, with his boyfriend, he shows a more forgiving, wholesome side. Affectionate, and gentle, but... easily tipped into frantic stammering and mumbling when he's away from closed doors. He's a very sincere person, loving with his whole heart, and hates to lie unless he has to. Empathetic to others problems, when he cares about them. Understands.

Even if he makes excuses sometimes for horrible behaviour, because 'they can't really mean it... right?'
