[Gift] Fairy Lights
The grounds of the St. James estate were huge, but for once, were unusually quiet. Which was perfect. Slowly a box inched its way through the pristine garden, the slumbering plants and trees the only witness, as the white paving reflected the midwinter light. A head peered round the box, bright pink eyes blinking as the small dragon checked his surroundings, a grin forming when he realised that he would get away with his plan. His eyes rested now on two small trees, completely bare of any leafage or flowers, apparently, this was how they were meant to be, and so ‘rare. Angel snorted, returning his attention back to the box; carefully opening it, light catching of the tiny bulb that he could see.
With careful movements of his paws, he began to drag the fairy lights out of their box, occasionally stopping to untangle them, until the path around the dragon was littered with them. Sitting back on his haunches, he took one last look around to make sure the coast was clear, before starting to weave the strings of lights around the trees. Rearing up, Angel used his claws to fasten the first bit around a branch to anchor it, before beginning to wrap it around the trunk, round and round he wove the strings until at last they reached the ground.
He halted for a moment, deciding whether to indulge in his mischievousness, a glance back at the house, and the echoes of the party currently been held, made his mind up, and rather than start a new string, he used the current one, running it along the ground, before starting on the second tree.
Night had stared to come in by the time he was done, the twin trees (well trunks anyway) covered in fairy lights, unlit for the moment, and between the two, a single thread of lights that connected them. Grinning, he clasped the wires, and they flickered on, powered by his thunder heritage.
From the darkness of the garden, gentle wrinkling lights flared up, catching the eye of any inebriated guests, curiosity drove them to see what this attraction was, and as they neared, the fairy lights flickered off… and legs tangled in strings that crossed the path, the gleeful giggles of a small dragon echoing in the grounds, before the fairy lights flickered back on
