[Gift] Mistletoe
The forest was quiet, not surprising given the time of year it was, though the blustery snow storms that swept across the area didn’t penetrate the ethereal forest to much, still, much of the flora had gone dormant. Though, one thing seemed to be thriving, especially around the apple trees that lingered. Uriași slipped along the ground, heading to one particular tree, at first he hadn’t realised it was an apple (not that he’d tell anyone) but it was only when the parasitic plant started blooming that he realised it was in fact two separate organisms, the trunk of the apple tree, serving no other purpose than to draw water and other nutrients.
It was quite frankly fascinating, especially as his senses revealed that the white berries the parasitic plant bore were in fact, poisonous. Reaching up he went to grasp a few went he felt a familiar, if unwanted tingle along his senses. Growling he turned, catching sight of a much smaller dragon approaching. “Finally got sick of your cave?” He asked Ziathiel, she grinned at him, though it was more her eyes glinting than an actual smile, her artificial parts far less complex than his and hid her entire snout from view. “Quite the opposite.” She purred. “I came to check up on one of my favourite plants.” She pointed at the berries Uriași held.
“They are poisonous.” He pointed, smug in his superior knowledge. Zia snorted in laughter. “True, but they have a different use as well.” She explained. That caught the males attention, what did she know that he didn’t. “Oh? Please tell me oh wise one, what a non jungle knows.” He responded sarcastically. Better to hide that he didn’t know by forcing her claw. “It will be easier if I show you, may I climb up?” She asked. Uriași narrowed his eyes at the formal request, something didn’t add up, especially given the glee in the other dragons voice; but his thirst for knowledge was greater than his wariness, and Zia was a dragon he sort of knew, and had figured out.
He lowered his body so that he was closer to the ground, making it easier for the wyrm to climb up, his instincts kicked in too late as her metallic talons caught his face, and before he could lash out, a cold snout pressed against his own it lasted but a moment before he lashed his tail at her, the now giggling dragoness dodging as she broke the ‘kiss’.
She pointed up. “ Don’t you know, if you’re stood below some mistletoe, you kiss the other party?” She giggled at his glare sides heaving as Uriași just stared. Surely her rider wouldn’t miss her….
Poor Uriași gets conned by the ever helpful Ziathiel.....
