[Gift] Blizzard

A drop in the air had Rythe lifting his head, the open expanse around empty devoid of life, especially now that he'd hunted; the area was a white landscape as far as the eye could see, snow having falling near constantly for days, and so much so that Rythe had had to hunt much further afield. The distance hadn't bothered him, a master of the winds such as he could soar for days on end; and eventually he'd found sufficient prey, amidst the windswept fields far to the north; the earth held down by strong roots and vines. He looked around, spotting the ominous clouds beginning to gather, that along with a shift in pressure warned of a storm to come. He took hold of the beast in his jaws, carefully waddling towards the edge of the floating earth he was on, an unsightly view had anyone been close... but he knew it was deserted. Wings flared out as he dropped, and in the air he was a master, powerful wings spread wide as his shadow crossed the white plains below, soaring on the remaining thermals to conserve energy as he headed home, towards the sheer cliffs that he nested in.

Unfortunately, he misjudged to speed of the storm, and it was upon him before he knew it, the world turning white as the blizzard attacked him, cold spears striking his large wings as snow hit him from all directions. He was virtually blind now, and the prey he had caught, nothing but dead weight as it froze in his jaws. He let go. His entire focus on navigating the wintery air. But he would win against this foe, no matter if his wings were beginning to go numb, his toes prickling as he flexed them, even as he turned.

How long he remained trapped in the unrelenting fury of the blizzard, Rythe didn't know, but finally it eased off, shifting into a lighter and more playful snowstorm, the visibility greatly improving. He could see the cliff edge, not long now..
