[Gift] [FOTN] EXPRESS JOURNEY

The bitter wind tore at Skylax as he ran through the snow covered fields, the flowers long since asleep as winters grip tightened over the land. His mouth closed on the parcel he carried, tight enough to keep it safe but not tight enough so as to damage the precious cargo he’d been asked to transport. Delivery of medicine, as quick as possible.

And so here he was, soaring over the snowy plains, as a gentle snowstorm began to surge around him, he spotted a large sequence of rocks looming in the distance, and far beyond that the yellow glitter of lights of his designation. He shifted his angle, approaching the rocks at a speed which would allow him to glide for part of his journey, speeding it up considerably. He adjusted his grip on the medicine as his front paws touched the icy rock, his claws digging in and he leapt, arms and wings spread as they caught the cold wind, soaring over the white land, using the few sparse warm drifts to rise as he aimed for the small town.

Suddenly the weather shifted, it’s unpredictability normal for this time of year, what had been a gentle snowstorm whipped into a full blizzard, the winds tearing at the gliding dragon. Skylax folded his wings dropping to the ground, his muscles quivering as he reconnected with the earth, the snow cushioning his landing. Not waiting to full recover he bounded off again, head low, his package shielded from the driving elements, the yellow lights of the town growing stronger and stronger as he raced towards them, cutting through the storming blizzard as quickly as he could.

A whistle caught his attention as he entered the town boundaries, and he shifted angle aiming for where he could see a torch waving, claws dug into the snow to halt his high speed, skidding to a halt, his snout all but touching the man as his chest heaved from his high speed journey. Carefully he let go of the package into the man’s hands. “ Good Boy.” The man said, Skylax wagged his tail. His express journey had been worth it.
