Speedy Kid Drama 1
Bran sighed as he wandered a little aimlessly across the water bank.
He had a book in his hand, claws pressing frustratedly into the pages as he reread the same sentence twice.
It made no sense. This whole book was in a totally different language, but he understood bits. He’d bought it off of a traveler that passed through his ranch a couple days ago, and had only recently had the chance to actually leave and try and find the wood detailed inside.
Or.. at least look for the intricately drawn depiction of that wood.
He wanted to build a new wing of his house, and this book contained an ancient record of all the local flora, including trees and their uses.
He just wished he spoke the tongue it was written in fluently.
Shell had been curiously following Bran in the water as he went about his day, but had started to gain a crawling suspicion that he'd need to get out the water soon. It made him snort a small get of water from his broad muzzle.
While he could get on land, it didn't mean he particularly liked it over the water.
Rhubarb was there too, he saw. Snaking his way across the shore and around trees like some stupid lizard as he trailed after his rider happily.
Rhubarb tended to piss him off in a way he couldn't really put his claw on. He was too.. energetic. And annoying. Definitely annoying.
Blue eyes gleamed as an orange dragon followed the small group. The tentacles around her head tangled with each other as they wriggled, feeding off of the orange dragons excitement. She had been following them since the moment Bran left his house. Why? Because he had something that seemed unique, something she didn't have. There was a rustle and the quick pitter patter of feet coming quickly, directly towards Bran. She was almost a blur as she reached for the book Bran has been so interested in. She didn't bother to acknowledge that some of her clutch was there, they didn't matter right now, all that mattered was that book and getting her grabby little hands on it. Why? She had no idea, she couldn't read but Bran wanted it so SHE wanted it.
Rhubarb's head snapped around at the rustling, and upon seeing his mother, his eyes widened and he let out one hell of an ungodly screech of excitement.
Before she could even get close, he was streaking over to her, slamming into her side and half wrapping his long body around her.
Speedy squawked loudly and turned quickly, almost chomping down onto the dragon who had crashed into her but she did not bite down, quickly realizing who it was. She sat still, glancing from Bran to her son, mouth still gently holding one of Rhubarb’s legs. She let out a low rumble, irritation, her mane of tentacles wrapped around and seemed to pet Rhubarb as Speedy huffed. Rhu let out an excited series of chirps and trills as Speedy's tentacles petted him, his own littler ones half papping her back.
This gave Bran a chance to snap his gaze over towards them as well, and with a venomous growl, he snapped the book shut and hid it in his cloak. But seeing the orange-yellow blur clash with the darker one, he frowned. Shell just rumbled from within the water, reptilian and low, bubbles stirring
After another moment, she gave Rhubarb a pat of sorts and easily removed the thin dragon from around her. Despite his best efforts though, the little Ocean/Fire mutt had no hope of combating his mother's Earth strength, and he was peeled away. She approached Bran, a little more calmly and made a curious chattering noise, circling around the vernid cautiously.
Rhu plopped onto the sand, he watched them for a long moment, before he half darted towards the ocean, chattering like he was trying to 'tell' his brother, but Shell wasn't having any of it. He let out another soft groan of annoyance, before he half lurched out the water and snapped at Rhu's wiggly little body to get him to get back on 'his side' of their walk. Like the beach was an unspoken territory like that Shell was being a dick about.
Bran huffed, looking at her, his glare still present. "I don't care how nice you are acting right now. You're not getting it. This is one thing that you can't steal, it's very important" he growled softly. A warning, but not mean. He liked Speedy, even if she was annoying as fuck. He'd found ways around her. Eventually.
Speedy's attention was drawn shortly by the splash of water and the snapping of jaws, she let out a low series of noises that Bran had never heard before. In an instant she was gone from Bran's side and across the distance between them and the water as if she had teleported, she let out a low growl as a loud thud rang out. She had smacked part of her large sons head where there were no spikes and then proceeded to shove him back into the water with a noise that seemed as if she were telling the massive dragon to behave. She glanced sideways at her other son, making sure he was okay before going back to Bran and chattered again. She lifted one of her hands and made grabbing motions, if she couldn't have the book, that was fine for now but she wanted SOMETHING from the dark vernid.
