Speedy Kid Drama 2
Bran watched in quiet awe for a moment, kind of shocked she was able to do that, and even more shocked that the enormous dragon just made another series of groans and huffs and sank back into the water where he had been pushed. Like a moody teenager. Speedy almost shot another look towards the water but was immediately distracted when Bran reached inside his cloak. Rhu trilled affectionately at Speedy as she looked over at him, cocking his head a little, raptor-like. Before he followed her over, brushed against her side, sat up a bit and watched them carefully still. At the grabby motions of his mother, he very slowly moved to bring his fore legs up and attempt to copy her, slowly curling and uncurling his fingers. Then he flickered his eyes to Bran expectantly. Like he wanted praise.
Bran groaned. But... gave in pretty easily at both of them. Reaching inside his cloak, he brought out his 'Speedy pouch', as he called it. he'd filled it with trinkets and food and shiny things including gemstones and pretty shells. He took a handful of little things, and held it out to her, palm flat. She seemed to lean in closer as she waited. Amongst his paw pads and soft downy fur of his palm was a large opalescent mother of pearl shard, a pearl, and a particularly shiny looking chunk of geode.
"That a good enough trade?" He murmured softly
She studied the items that Bran had traded to her, she chittered before yanking her hands quickly towards herself and letting out a low growl at Rhubarb. He was too close to her things. She bolted some feet away before tucking the items into her mess of tentacles for safe keeping. Rhu flinched and whined a bit at the growl, but did seem to understand.
Somewhere nearby a rumble sounded and another large dragon emerged from the trees, almost directly behind the bipedal dragon. It leaned close to the smaller dragon, only to find his head harshly smashed into the ground in a matter of seconds. The rest of his body hit the ground with a heavy THUMP, the new dragon looked stunned and then his stunned expression changed into a snarl as he began to stand up. Once again he found himself face down as the smaller dragon finally turned to face the newcomer. It was one of her other sons, from her most recent clutch, Dagon.
As Dagon came out the trees though, the snake-like dragon's eyes widened and he immediately hid behind Bran, wrapping the tip of his long tail around his leg and lowering his head so it barely brushed the ground. He didn't like the big dragons. And while he knew they wouldn't ever really hurt him, they still scared him. He was stupid, but not stupid enough not to understand that one wrong move could have his spine snapped on pure accident. Bran glanced at him, and reached over to pet his head softly.
"It's just your brother, calm down" he puffed. Rhu, glancing at him, did not in fact calm down.
Bran did chuckle a little though as Dagon hit the ground like a sack of rocks, ears twitching. Shell also seemed to find it pretty damn hilarious, because he lifted his head up just to let out a chorus of stuttered growls that very much also sounded like his version of laughter. He always liked it when Dagon, his rival now, got his arse handed to him. It wasn't funny when he got told off, but one of his brothers? Always
When Dagon got up the second time he seemed a bit more cautious. "I just wanted to see..." He grumbled before quickly backing up when he noticed his mothers hand begin to raise again. He glared over at Shell before taking one last glance at Speedy who was no longer looking at him and he darted towards the water, moving quickly into the air with a strong flap of his large wings before tucking them in and diving straight down, claws sharp and ready, directly where Shell was peeking out of the water.
Shell wasn't quite fast enough to completely avoid Dagon's attack, having moved into shallow water to be with Speedy and Bran, body too large. As Dagon smacked into his haunches, he roared and swung around to snap at anything he could reach. The wave he sent onto the beach made Rhu squeak as it hit his back end, making him streak into the trees in a yellow-orange blur. Bran watched him go - or rather, watched the sand settle in his wake, before turning his attention to Speedy and letting out a gentle huff. Speedy had turned for a moment to watch her sons as well, before turning back to Bran and tilting her head. Speedy had finished "hiding" her treasures and had returned to Bran curiously. "What." Was all she said but obviously Bran couldn't understand her. Although she didn't seem to care as she poked at Bran's cloak, letting out another small noise.
"I'm not showing you it in case you steal it," he mumbled. "But it's a book on trees. I need some wood" He wasn't sure if she could understand him either, but. He'd always made a habit of talking to both his and other dragons, whether they could understand the actual words or not, it was the tone that mattered. The inclusion. It took her a moment before she chittered and trotted over to where she could see a tree and pointed to it, making that curious sound again.
Bran looked over, blinking at it curiously for a moment, before he very subtly took the book out, shielding it with his cloak to be sure. Peeking at the picture, he put it back and shook his head. Holding out his arms to show her the size. "I'm looking for driftwood. It's big, like this. And it curls a lot. Like your tentacles''
Speedy nodded but whether she actually understood or not was to be determined. Instead she wrapped her arms around the tree as far as she could and dug her claws into the bark as deep as they could go and began to pull.
Dagon let out a roar of his own as his brother's sharp teeth grabbed ahold of his leg. He had expected his dive bomb attack to land and not to get hit in the process. His tail whipped around, smacking Shell harshly in the face as Dagon began to try and claw at anywhere he could reach his stupid brother. Shell roared again, being forced to let go of his leg as he was whipped in the face, managing to drag himself more into the water and finally be able to move properly, twisting around to dunk him under water unexpectedly, hoping to make him choke before he thought to use his gills.
Dagon flapped his wings a bit as Shell tried to drag him underwater, the motion sending water flying everywhere, including on Bran and his mother. His mother didn’t seem to notice the water, too focused on her task at hand. Her boys were in for a surprise.
