Plant discovery....

Zyanya stood within a clearing deep in the rainforest,, the daylight filtering down through the canopy; the vast area swarming with plants and insects… several of which the dragon that accompanied her had already gathered and put to one side, most were of the edible variety and could be sold for silvence, but a few had more .. intriguing properties. As normal she’d let him get on with it, as long as Keahi did not interfere with her work, she tolerated him… and thus far he had proved helpful in her endeavors.  The quetzal flared her wings, the green barred tips touching the foliage that surrounded them before refolding them, her gaze scanning for anything she'd yet to see before. While what the dragon had acquired would prove useful in her research, none had the properties she needed... the ability to corrode a metal dragons scales, which meant that her poisons were much more difficult to deliver. 

Keahi moved around the area with ease, his antennae weaving as he looked for what his rider needed. He already knew her poisons were deadly, and while he did not know why she needed to deal with a metal dragons scales; he didn't care, she needed it, so he would do everything in his power to assist... and if that meant checking every single plant, berry or thing that grew so be it. Plus, it gave time to train his magics. taking a deep breath he extended his jungle magic outwards, once more, scanning the area.... though he did get sidetracked when he picked up on a particular berry tree he was partial too.  Opening his eyes he sidled across, claws pulling at the berries with relish.

Zyanya finally moved, all but ignoring the dragon, if he found something he'd let her know, and she had no interest in those berries he was currently gathering and eating. Every now and again she'd stop and look closer at a particular plant, eventually her wanderings took her out into the open sun, the warm rays making her almost drowsy as the rainforest sounds soothed her..... still she was alert enough to spot a plant she didn't recognize, growing in the open patch of rainforest, It was closer to a shrub, the leaves a dark green with bright purple tips, the berries almost looked like strawberries, but rather than red when ripe, these were a dark purple.... and as she looked closer, appeared far more deadly than at first. Scattered around she could see berries in various stages after falling off. The dried berries were nibbled on and when she picked one up, appeared much like other dried fruit she'd seen in the town she occasionally visited; the more recent berries though, they irritated her talons and as the juice dripped from it to the ground below, a faint hiss sounded. "Keahi." Zyanya called out, summoning the dragon to her.

The dragon darted through the forest skidding to a halt near his rider, his mouth full of berries still as he finished eating them. He cocked his head at the berry Zyanya held, he took it in his own claw, antenna weaving as he checked both it, the dried berries and the shrub itself. His magic flared again, this time to see, to detect, the identify the plant... or  more accurately... what properties it held. He didn't grin exactly, but he was smug as he looked at the quetzal he called his own and spoke. "The juice of the berries is acidic, to touch a mild irritation, unless in larger quantities, but to ingest, deadly in its base form."  Zyanya peered at the plant, acidic she could work with, and that was just in its normal state, with cultivation...... well that was to be seen "Bring it." She said, flaring her wings and taking off, the sun still shining down on her and the dragon.  Keahi bared his teeth in a smile this time, as he got to work uprooting the plant in question..
