Fillters and flight

The brown volcano of Juatsasapi was the stunning background for Flitter's summons, the small wind dragon perched just above the monarch covered trees. Other dragons were around, but Flitter ignored them he was interested in one dragon, and he knew she would be here… he just need to coax her attention to him once more, to be fully on him… there a flutter of ice on a dark hued dragon, her sandstone wings striking against the trees as she headed vaguely in his way.

Zephyra was curious about the mountain the fire dragons spoke of, it was meant to be romantic, and while pretty enough there…  her attention shifted when a sweet song sounded from a rocky outcrop on the side of the brown hued mountain. Flaring her wings she halted and a dozen monarch fluttered around her, the song rose up around her, luring her closer… there . She landed near him, her powerful back legs holding her as she listed to the sweet song as Flitter fluttered around her, his red throat bulging as he sung.

Flitter took a break, a minute halt in his siren song before continuing, he kept his gaze on the hybrid as she started to move around him her powerful wings flush against her body but he could tell she was listening by her feathered crest which moved in time with his song.

Zephyra was aware of his attention on her, she could sing if she so wanted to, but now that he was courting her, the volcano pulled at her, urging her to take to air; crooning she waited until he took a breath, for what she had planned he would need it. “Such a sweet song, but can you catch me?” She trilled, powerful hind legs launching into the air and scattering the butterflies though she used the winds to cushion them.

Flutter fell back from the sweep of Zephyra’s take off, tumbling backwards in the air before he corrected himself… well he’d certainly caught her attention.  Trilling he fluttered his wings, he wasn’t as powerful as the earth hybrid but he was more agile in the air… he just had to catch up to her… though she hadn’t gone far.

Zephyra levelled off, reveling in the air that pressed against her. Had he followed? She shifted and her crest dropped … where was he? The wind moved above her and she folded her wings and  dove left as the male zoomed past her, his wings beating much quicker than hers as she shifted in the air in a maneuver that had her crooning in appreciation even as she flew into the tall dry firs that lay flush against the brown volcano, their leaves hiding her from her pursuers gaze.

Flitter huffed, his chest heaving, for even with the winds helping him he wasn’t built for such high speeds or for such long flights but it was worth it as the female dove down this wasn’t the first time he’d courted her, but this flight…. It pulsed though him as his song had wove through the air earlier. There, a flash of earthen color as Zephyra wove through the trees, the blue marks merging into her sandstone wings before she was hidden from sight. But he knew where she was now. Folding his wings, he sped through the higher leaves until she was beneath him.

Zephyra felt her wings burn, the strain of her courtship dance catching up … and she felt his presence above her a glance above and there he was his own chest heaving.  Easing off she brushed her wingtips against his and slipped in front of him leading him to the area where he had sung to her, landing she waited until he was next to her and beneath Juatasapi shadow snuggling close as they both caught their breath.
