A June encounter.. and a diamond
"And this goes.... here." The white cat said, folding the book as he completed the puzzle at hand; with a click the mechanism whirled to life, he flicked his ears as he hear clinks and whirling from beyond the great door, elaborately decorated (well... it had been at one point) with motif of the two gods this lost temple was meant to represent. Light and Dark, the two that he followed. As the door slowly slid open he moved out into the open to wave at Mikuru, who circled far above, before returning his attention to the dark maw that now beckoned.
"Regens Lux." He breathed, holding a paw out as the ball lit the area, it was.. .in remarkably good condition, hardly surprising since it was hidden far out to sea, etched into a spire of rock... which meant by air was the only possible way. Just as well he was the current 'guardian' of a juvenile cresentwing. A grin crossed his face as he carefully eased forward, ears pricked for any surprises that may of been left.
Green eyes opened slowly as she felt the air shift, but she kept her fires banked for now, inching forward to see who had come, she'd been pestered quite a bit quite recently, hopefuls wishing to 'tame' her, though she had acquired a few pretty baubles as a result.
Skye heard something slither over the ground, but though his fur raised, he couldn't perceive any true threat, but he still brushed his free hand against the daggers at his side.... the ruins didn't seem to of been rigged with traps, most unusual... unless this was a much older site. Returning his attention back to the book, he glanced at it, if the book was correct, (his translations obviously were) then inside the main hall, he should find the next part of the puzzle, a large diamond.
Green eyes continued to track the white cat his form lit by the tiny glowing ball nearby, probably a denizen of the world she was on, she watched him as he entered the large hallway, two statues, whom she assumed depicted some deity's, watched him as well. Reaching the center, he began to work on something on the floor, the book he'd been carrying gone, held safe in the large backpack he held. Just as she decided he was no threat, a very faint beam of light entered, her eyes narrowed on the rather large, gleaming diamond, the cat had unearthed from the floor.
"Ah-ha." Skye said, grinning at the diamond as he moved the casing away from it, too early to tell if it was indeed what he was after. Instinct had him rolling to one side, avoided the fanged jaws of something large and green, the beast snarling at him as it flared its wings, green fire circling it. They stared at one another, before the beast took a breath, green fire surging towards him. Dropping to all fours he rolled out of the way, launching a dagger towards the beast, who ducked, lunging for the diamond, before it slithered off. "Hey." Skye called, a slight detour to pick up his dagger, but soon he was chasing after the wyrm, back through the way he'd come, he caught sight of it taking off, the green fire still flickering. "Oh no you don't." Giving three short sharp whistles, he ran towards the edge, a huge shadow covering him as Mikuru stretched her legs, jumping he caught hold of one of the many straps that covered her, easily clambering up her immense body as she angled after the wyrm, her powerful wings closing the distance between them.....just as the wyrm vanished, almost into thin air.
First impressions are eveyrthing... and well June wanted that diamond
