Accents make your dragon look unique, even if their markings and colors are quite common. They are areas that allow for incredibly flexible marks within their range. Accents appear on top of all other markings, with the exception of Pollen.
Trait Range
Accents affects the extremities of traits, flowing towards the back, points, or ends of the dragon. For more specific ranges, check the trait guide you are interested in.
Color Rules
You can pick one to three different colors to use on your accents. Accents may be black, white, or any color within the elemental palette. Additionally, white areas with thin scales may show some pinking towards the edge without counting towards the color limit. As long as the mark is within the range of accents and sticks to the three color rule, you may create any patterns you like. Even tribal ones!
Layering
Accents appear on top of all other markings, with the exception of Pollen.
Shape
Accents may be any shape, as long as they are within the range of Accents.
Edge
Accents may have any edge, as long as the edge remains within the range of Accents.
Effects
Accents are affected normally by effect traits like Vibrancy, Engraved, Shimmer, Dazzle, Display, and so on.
Notable Interactions
All modifier traits have detailed notes on how Accents interact with them. Check individual pages if you want to know more uses!
Common Issues
There are a few common things that pop up when using accents. The following two examples are wrong.
In this first problem example, you can see a mark covering Accents. All traits other than Pollen go below Accents. While it's true that you can make any marks on Accents themselves, these Accents are already at the three color limit.
In the one below, the edge of accents is going out of range. Even with soft or textured edges, Accents will stay within their range.
