Freckles are tiny dots that can appear on the scales of your dragon. They will appear in small clusters--never alone, and never in large clusters. Freckles appear on top of all other markings, with the exception of Pollen.
Trait Range
Freckles may appear on any area with scales. Hard features like horns or plating will not have Freckles. Areas of long fur or feathers will not have Freckles (short Velvet Scales are fine). Webbing and Leather will not have Freckles.
Color Rules
Freckles may use any colors in the elemental color palette.
Layering
Freckles appear on top of all other markings, with the exception of Pollen.
Shape
Freckles are very small--about as small as you can see without zooming in to see the pixels!
Edge
The edge of Freckles will always be hard. They will also be solid, not transparent.
Effects
Freckles may be affected by Color Effects like Dazzle or Display. They will not be affected by Texture Effects like Orca, Splotched, or Forged. They will not be affected by Shape Effects like Engraved.
Common Issues
There are a few common things that pop up when using Freckles. The following two examples are wrong.
In this first problem example, the freckles are too large.
In this second problem example, the clump of freckles is too big, and even forms a blanket on the back of the dragon.
In this final problem example, the freckles are in areas without skin/scales.
