Scratches

Scratches allow you to add small scars to your dragon. This includes: incidental scars, scratch marks, small burns, and similar healed injuries. The injuries must be healed and sealed.

Trait Range

You may create up to three natural-looking scratches that are the roughly the same size or smaller than the circles below. A bit of leeway is allowed for a single, medium-sized scratch.

Color Rules

The color of scratches will match the color rules of Pollen. Colors must also be consistent across all skin/scar areas. If you would like to rub in colored ink or ash to the scars, then you will need to combine it with x1 Paint for each affected scratch. They will never be bleeding and never show bone underneath.

Layering

Scratches affect the body itself, so it will show up on top of everything.

Shape

The scratches should appear like incidental markings. They should not take on artificial shapes or imitate brands. They may be flat or slightly raised or slightly lowered, as long as the wound looks healed.

Edge

The edge of the scars should be smooth, textured, or raised. They will not appear like bruising or blend softly into the scales.

Effect Modifiers

Scratches are not affected by modifiers. However, you can apply Paint to them to create colors.

Special Interactions

  • Transparent Skin/Translucent - When applied to transparent areas, it will heal over as solid-colored tissue.
  • Magic Effects - You may have scratches be affected by Magic, if it's available to the dragon. In example, Tier IV fire magic can make a scratch spark and glow with fiery light.
  • Tattered - This does not stack with Tattered. The effects are not enhanced and vice versa.

Common Problems

Top: Scratches this large or larger require a Surgical Kit or Loremarker to apply.

Top: This limb has been amputated, which is not a simple scratch. There are several ways to amputate limbs--the most accessible is Artificial Limbs. You can also use a Surgical Kit.
