Task Prompt: 1
Due to all the wildfires and storms that have been happening, dangerous wildlife has been appearing on the main planets. Cheveska and his caravan had been stopping by when it had all started. The blazing inferno was caused by the lightning from the tornados. It was a terrible experience that has been pushing out dangerous wild animals. Who have been encroaching on the refugee camps. Now Cheveska’s caravan has been helping out here and there. From setting up new temporary shelters for those in need to trying to cull the roaring flames. As for Cheveska, he was assigned to help protect the camp as well as help anyone in need there. Of course, he wasn’t the only one. He was assigned to protection even though he’s rather new simply because of his wit and ability to make some rather creative and effective traps. Along with his flexibility to utilize that wit to help others in need in creative ways.
So here he is setting up his defensive measures. Castoran is helping him in this endeavor. Both work to not only set the silk lines in place but also the sticky silk that will be the basis for the traps. Due to how thin the thread is, it is hard to see so could be walked into undoubtedly by some creatures. If they do that the defense mechanism springs and they are caught in a giant tangled silk mesh that will keep them good and stuck. He’s planning on thinking of some countermeasures for any aerial attacks, however, his fellow riders have that covered for now. Back to the task at hand.
Not only does he need to meticulously set up these traps around the perimeter of the camp, but he also needs to wet the area. Having Castoran do that as he weaves. The small dragon was working hard in her own right. The bucket wasn’t overly cumbersome, it was just that she needed to make many trips to properly wet the areas needed. After all, she needed to get a lot of the ground wet so the fire doesn’t spread. Not to mention the need to clean up the dried and shriveled foliage first so it isn’t anywhere near the fire line to get caught in the fire. The blue, red, and gold dragon worked tirelessly, her shadowy companion also doing what they can to help, including keeping an eye on the eerie yellow glow of the fire that was on the horizon.
Once everything is set and ready, Castoran and Cheveska take a moment to catch their breath and ready their nerves for any monsters that may approach. Helping out some in camp as well in the meantime. However, it isn’t too long before their first trap goes off. Bolting toward the area that had been set off, to not only check on the state of the trap(s) but also to see what they had caught.
The creature looked to be a form of the basilisk, the kind that is rather troublesome in that it is a ferocious predator much like the komodo dragon. Thankfully this subspecies doesn’t have the look of petrification, otherwise, they would be in trouble. Thankfully the trap worked swimmingly and the monster has been subdued for the time being. So the two take the moment to remove the beast from the trap, still contained in its cocoon, and reset the trap. It’ll take a while for Cheveska to reset the trap so he asks Castoran to go and fetch another rider to take care of the large horned lizard that is the basilisk. Castoran complies and heads off to get one of the other riders that can take care of the beast. As this beast will no doubt be only one of many more to come.
