Task Prompt: 9
As the day began once more, Cheveska was back to work looking over the forming sprouts with his chaperone not far behind. Castoran had gone off on her own to check on some of the other sprouts. After all the forests were far from fully healed. However, Cheveska’s observations are soon halted as he feels Castoran pull at his mind. Seems she had found something quite strange. His curiosity was bubbling and making sure nothing serious was in the area was always something to do, so he takes a moment out of the inspection to go see what has caught Castoran’s attention.
Once Cheveska arrives he can see that it is indeed something interesting. A hole in the ground under the roots of an ancient tree. The odd part about this hole is the fact that it looks like something ripped its way free from the roots and soil around it. Even more interesting still is the abundance of vibrant mosses and rich dirt surrounding the hole. The tree itself seemed almost unnatural in its surroundings, near untouched by the fires that had raged around it days ago. Cheveska, Castoran, the chaperone, and their dragon were all quite perplexed and intrigued by this sight.
Turning back from the odd sight, Cheveska made a mental note to ask the locals about this area at a later point. For now, he has to get back to work and make sure the sprouts don’t die. With that thought in mind, Castoran can feel Cheveska’s intent and agrees with the line of thinking so doesn’t linger any longer. They can come back at another time.

The next day the two went into the makeshift camp near the area they had been working on. Asking around they find that the tree has an old folk tale legend surrounding it. An ancient beast was sealed there. Most of the stories say it was because it was evil, though there is one that says that it was due to it being far too powerful and bountiful. With this new information, they went to search for it. If it was going to cause trouble, that is something they need to avoid.
So onward they went to search for the beast of legend. Eventually, Cheveska found it in a field of sprouts that were now crawling, writhing vines snaking toward a large figure. The body of a leopard, the legs of a deer with the head of a wolf, the mane of a horse, three tails of a unicorn, and a crown of horns holding up an orb with halos of light surrounding it. It looked like a truly magnificent beast of legend. It turned to the two now, the six eyes upon it watched them. A look of the study was in those sapphire eyes, with the spark of light almost seemingly illuminating them. Its fur was covered in a rich bounty of moss, lichen, and fungi. Cheveska was enamored and well thought it necessary to show some respect to the beautiful beast in front of him, Castoran following his example.
Carefully oh so carefully the two watched and learned about the being in front of them. It was a being that brought a bounty of vegetation wherever it went, however, this vegetation grew wild and uncontrollable. Sometimes even growing a form of sentience and aggression. It was not the being who was evil, but what it brought wasn’t really seen as favorable by those that enjoy order most.
Eventually, Cheveska approached and offered up both a gift and a query. Asked if the grand being would be willing to travel somewhere new, perhaps travel with him or simply follow till it found a nice home to settle. It was nerve-wracking, trying to convince the being before him. But he eventually managed. Hopefully, this will help the locals settle. Though he does worry about the stray petrified pieces of fur he finds on the being’s body.
