With the issue of the grand creature resolved, Cheveska went back to work to help rejuvenate the forest. It was far less stressful than his usual need to keep an eye on the grand being. Though today, it had decided to follow him to the expansive field of sprouts he had grown with Castoran. The sprouts immediately began to grow rapidly and slithered upon the ground and into the air wildly. With a sigh, Cheveska began to traverse the growing overgrowth to check on the plants to make sure they were watered properly.
At some point during this process, the being and Castoran split from Cheveska. Who only just noticed due to getting thought from Castoran. His antennae twitched in intrigue at the thought he was given. Quickly making his way over to the two, he finds that the two had indeed found an odd alcove in a rock. Within lay an egg-shaped rock. It shone brilliantly, just like a gemstone dragon egg. Eyes widening at the look of it, he quickly picks up the egg. He needs to get the small egg back home quickly. The grand being seems to have taken an interest in the egg as well.
Back at camp, Cheveska and the others weren’t sure what to make of the egg. It looked like an egg, that was certain. However, no one could tell if it was simply a rock at the moment. For now, due to how Cheveska had taken care of Castoran’s egg so lovingly and the fact he needs to keep an eye on the grand beast, he will be taking care of the egg and staying in camp for now.
So he got to work, making silken beds for the three of them. Eventually finishing the weaves, Castoran was more than happy with his handy work. While the beast was intrigued and astonished while it lay upon the silk. No new weeds were coming from the nest thankfully. With that, Cheveska started to care for the egg in question. It was beautiful, just like all the other dragon eggs he was ever allowed to see. Brilliant gemstones of all kinds. This egg is as heavy as Castoran’s was. So with a small huff, Cheveska got to work on making a silken sling for the egg to sit in so he can carry it better. Wrapping it up gently to keep it shaded from the blistering sun.
Caring for the egg just as he had Castoran. Bringing it everywhere he goes, singing to it, telling it stories, and snuggling. Of course, over time, Castoran felt left out so Cheveska had to get a little creative. Bringing Castoran into the fold, he allowed her to try and pick it up, sing to it, and eventually, she began to curl around it once it was placed in the nest for sleep time. The beast also eventually started emulating the two. It was quite the sight to be sure and Cheveska wasn’t sure of it at first but in the end, allowing it.
As the days went by, he still couldn’t tell if the egg was real or not. Though the beast was always interested and staring when he came into view with it. It seemed to pulse with a warmth of its own, but he couldn’t tell if it was simply the heat of the sun, his own body heat or if it was real. Castoran was both confused and enamored by the egg. Curious to see what it would be and what might be lingering inside. Only time would tell right now, and maybe a senior dragon rider once they have the time to come to camp to check the egg.
