Task Prompt: 2
Of course, the beasts were only the beginning and the storms above raged on with ever more fervor. Soon enough the storms were going to come on top of the camp that Cheveska is taking care of. Quickly, all of the riders in the camp started to reinforce the buildings there. Cheveska on the other hand starts to reinforce a clump of trees he found that are buried deep into the soil. The alcove that was made by these trees would be secure enough in his opinion.
However, he doesn’t leave the other riders to do all the work and has Castoran help the other riders with securing the most sturdy of the temporary shelters. Castoran hesitated for a moment before giving a nod and speeding off to help the others. Cheveska would have them stick together the entire time if his work didn’t take so long. The darkened clouds not too far away rumbled and crackled with furiosity. He needed to finish in a hurry.
Thankfully, he does manage to construct the structure of his choice in time and has time to spare to add some last-minute touches to the other reinforced shelters. Finding Castoran along the way, he heads back to his own sturdy makeshift shelter. Squeezing into the alcove just in time as the storm began to rage overhead. The wind whips violently through the trees and shelters. It looked horrid, to say the least. With how much wind there was, Cheveska was worried for the others however knew that he couldn’t simply run outside with Castoran now. No doubt his little moth dragon would be swept away in the wind if he did that.
However, as the storm raged with an intense fervor something caught Cheveska’s attention. A howling squeal pierced the raging winds, as feint as it was compared to the roaring storm above. Carefully peering out of the shelter for a moment, he catches sight of a small dragon being thrown across the ground. It was clawing for a foothold. Finally, it knocked into the tree that was connected to the alcove, reaching for anything to grab onto. Small claws scraped across bark desperately.
Taking the chance, Cheveska quickly reaches out of the alcove grabbing the young dragon. Who squeaks and hisses on instinct, not realizing that he is a friend and not a sudden foe. Once back inside the alcove, Cheveska covers the entrance once more so no more wailing wind whips through the shelter. Gently keeping hold of the squirming little dragon in his grasp. Cooing calmly to try and get the small creature to calm down.
Thankfully, with Castoran’s help, the two were able to calm the worm of a dragon slightly. The small thing was thin and lanky, with a wyvern body and with spindly back legs. The front limbs were bat-like with talons to match with beautiful black webbing on the top with scattered white specks. Another pair of bat-like wings rose from the back, fluttering fitfully still in its previous adrenaline-filled terror. With rich blue smooth scales and a stubby, soft bat-like head that has two large white markings on the snout and a crown of feathers upon its brow. Beady red eyes were staring up at the two shakily for a moment. Though, with time, the shaky creature does eventually curl up into Cheveska’s gentle hands their long tail curling around the arm while the feathers on its back fluff up to stay warm. He, in turn, brings the small one closer before noticing Castoran staring. With a small rumbling chuckle, he brings one of his forepaws up and over Castoran. Gently bringing her closer in a warm hug.
Once they are all settled in the back of the alcove, Cheveska slowly begins to hum a soothing song. Even if the winds were howling outside and ripping through the branches above, they would be fine.
